    If you want something much more sedate, then how about joining our weekly online Shared Reading for Carers.  This quiet activity enables carers who love reading, being read too, interested in books, stories, or poetry a chance to meet up and take time out of your caring role, take an hour a week to mentally re-charge your batteries and engage with the love of words and written word.

    "Participants will play fun and interactive drama games to build confidence and teamwork skills. They will explore characters and what makes a story, developing, writing, and acting their own original radio play. They will incorporate music and sound effects and record the play through Zoom, sharing their work with family and friends on the final week of the project. They will receive a recording of the play to keep."

    This weekly social and peer support group gets together to provide peer support and ad hoc mentoring and advice.  The group discusses every topic imaginable, enabling carers to learn something or just have fun and a laugh.  It takes time out of your daily caring role, to relax, talk and get support from your fellow carer.

    We are pleased to announce that with the lockdown regulations easing we are bringing back our weekly walking group, you will only walk in groups of six, physically distanced but near enough to chat, have a laugh and enjoy the spring sunshine. You meet outside the Carers Centre at 1pm and off you go as group.

    The Happy Place - Reminiscence and Creative Arts

    The Happy Place - Reminiscence and Creative Arts

    *Accessible for all abilities, you can even do your workout from your chair - No experience necessary* A weekly group to enhance your wellbeing, teaching you boxing training and mindfulness techniques aimed at carers. These sessions are designed to help you feel less stressed, more energetic, promote better sleep, improve your mood and your relationships.

    The course is led by Luke Doherty, who played rugby for England and now teaches mindfulness to elite athletes including Saracens and Harlequins rugby clubs. He’s also designed programmes for carers over the past 5 years.

     

    The one hour sessions are live streamed into your home, you’ll learn a proper warm up routine, key boxing moves, do guided meditations to relax and explore how mindfulness can help in your day to day life.

    This weekly session helps you stretch, keep your body mobile, helps with balance, gets your blood pumping.  There is also a chance to learn how to massage your own body, treat yourself with oils you can make at home.  Carers have reported that it has helped them relax, feel less stressed and calmer
