27th November 2023Our weekly reading group enables carers to sit round a table, have fun with other carers and have a short story read to them by an experienced Reader; this mindful activity enables you to slow down and look inwardly.

27th November 2023Carers have the opportunity to remain in a creative bubble as these sessions are directly after our Shared Reading Group. Think how you are transported to another world with the reading group and how you can use your imagination to write your own short story, poem and use this time for yourself to think about you.

28th November 2023Carers are offered four, one-hour sessions where they are able to discuss the pressures and issues of the caring role and given coping mechanisms and strategies to effectively manage their caring role. These are provided either face to face, virtually on Zoom, or by telephone.

28th November 2023Our IT suite is open to carers, carers who are students, carers writing CV’s and job applications, online food shopping or just want to check your emails once a week to catch up, meet other carers and have some mental respite. We do not have a printer and cannot print copies for you, we ask you to be proficient enough to manage on your own as staff can provide minimum support as they are busy with their own work.

29th November 2023This monthly peer support group aims to help carers network, support each other, learn caring tips, and share knowledge, it is your group, and you have a say in how is runs. Carers can either come to the centre or zoom in from home.

29th November 2023This peer support group has been coproduced and developed with Bengali carers of loved ones with Dementia and is a monthly group for carers to support each other, learn to manage their caring role, carers can bring the person their cared for, and activities will include condition related learning, access to gardening and Islamic Art drawing.

29th November 2023This weekly peer support group enables Young Adult Carers to access a range of activities which are
co-produced and relevant to them, such as self-care and personal empowerment workshops. They may also choose to use these sessions to discuss their caring role with staff or simply for ‘chill out’ time in order to connect with other Young Adult Carers and get a break from their caring roles. Food and drink are provided. -

30th November 2023This group is for carers to learn a craft, develop a hobby, and enjoy some free time. Carers will get to have fun with other carers. This group is also a peer support group and recognises the mental health needs of carers, carers of people with a mental health issue, you can also bring the person you care for. Materials, refreshments, and fun will be supplied.

30th November 2023This weekly group enables carers feeling isolated to connect with local residents, carers will have the chance to undertake health and nutrition classes, exercise classes, advice, fun and games. We work in partnership with St Joseph’s Hospice and Tower Hamlets Public Health.

1st December 2023Working with our partner, ELATT, this learning group is for carers, to learn English as a second language, participants will have an academic year of learning including how carers can learn English to help with their caring roles through conversation with health providers.

1st December 2023This weekly group allows female carers to connect and enjoin their own space, exercise, and have some mental respite away from the stresses of caring. This activity takes place at The Tiller Leisure Centre on the Isle of Dogs.
