6th June 2022We kick our carers week off with a special treat for carers. First come, first served as we offer carers a 30-minute massage with one of our wonderful massage therapists. Not only will you get a massage, but you will be able to join our Garden/Brayford Square party and enjoy a cup of tea and some Strawberries and Cream.

6th June 2022Does your caring role stop you from reading a book or books? When was the last time you had someone read to you?
Our weekly reading group enables carers to sit round a table, have fun with other carers and have a short story read to them by an experienced Reader called Dorothy (she is wonderful by the way). This mindful activity gets you to slow down and look inwardly.
Today because it carers week, why not be visible, and have a story read to you about being seen....

7th June 2022The Carers Centre funds specific counselling for carers, it is a weekly session with up to four sessions, you will be given a set time and if you think this is for you then you will need to consult with your centre worker, who will decide if you meet the criteria and refer. There is a waiting list, but it is worth waiting.

- What is happening in the present moment
- The things that upset you or bring you down
- What you want for yourself
Being able to think more flexibly about choices and decisions, focusing your energy on what you want, what is important to you rather than what you don’t want, or feel you should do, can help you be kinder to yourself and develop your sense of meaning and purpose.

8th June 2022The group is in partnership with Carers Centre Tower Hamlets, Community Learning Disability Service, Autism Service Tower Hamlets and CREATE Day Centre and each month there will be representatives from the partner organisation on hand to give advice. Most importantly your peers will be on hand to swap tips, give advice and welcome you into their caring presence. Please email tony so that he can arrange for this to happen, there will also be a Bengali interpreter. So come and enjoy the shared experience of peer support…. We are pleased to welcome The Open University, who will be giving a talk on Ageing Well and how to keep your health the best it can be. You will learn how to access the Open Universities webinar, workshops and talks to enable better health.

Carers being visible is also a theme, so we want carers to have a fun day out. We are meeting by the tube, bring your own packed lunch and lets see some wonderful, historic photography. 10th June 2022Our IT suite is open to carers, carers who are students, carers writing CV’s and job applications, online food shopping or just want to check your emails once a week to catch up, meet other carers and have some mental respite.
We do not have a printer and cannot print copies for you, we ask you to be proficient enough to manage on your own as staff can provide minimum support as they are busy with their own work. Being able to connect with others will help with carers wellbeing.
