7th March 2022Did You Know we have a weekly Shared Reading Group? How does it work?
Does your caring role stop you from reading a book or books? When was the last time you had someone read to you?
Our weekly reading group enables carers to sit round a table, have fun with other carers and have a short story read to them by an experienced Reader called Dorothy (she is wonderful by the way). You then get to discuss the story, compare ideas and really delve into the characters, did you like them or dislike them, it is for you to chat and tell your story….
Everyone experiences the text in their own way, but the literature provides a shared language that can help us to understand ourselves – and others – better.
It can even help with your ESOL needs.
Research shows that learning new skills can also improve your mental wellbeing by:
- boosting self-confidence and raising self-esteem
- helping you to build a sense of purpose
- helping you to connect with others
If this is for you then email tony@ccth.org.uk

Paying more attention to the present moment can improve your mental wellbeing. This includes your thoughts and feelings, your body and the world around you.
Some people call this awareness "mindfulness". Mindfulness can help you enjoy life more and understand yourself better. It can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.

It could be small acts of kindness towards other people, or larger ones which is what carers do but sometimes you need help to keep that positivity, mechanisms to maintain your caring role.

9th March 2022This groups aim is getting a broad range of carers who care for loved ones with complex or different needs, to chat and swap stories, ideas that help maintain a good, safe and happier caring role. 17th March 2022Goal Setting & Commitment
This month’s session is on Goal Setting & Commitment. Carers often tell us they have difficulty maintaining their commitment to a diet, exercise class, people. So, we thought is that due to juggling new initiatives and the caring role and this could lead to it turning out short lived? How about some help and ideas on how to manage commitments longer and successfully achieve some of your goals?
If you want to attend this workshop you will need to sign up by giving your name to Tony at least 48 hours prior to the session, carers will not be accepted onto this workshop without doing this and if there are not enough sign ups we will not be able to continue with the session.
How about committing to Being active as it is not only great for your physical health and fitness. Evidence also shows it can also improve your mental wellbeing.

30th March 2022It is difficult to think that someday your caring role could end with the passing of your loved one. The question is are you prepared, do you need direction, tips, and awareness on what to put in place before anything happens. Have you thought of what you want to do when your caring role comes to and end?
If this is something that has crossed your mind and the person you care has been given a terminal diagnosis, is receiving palliative care or has a condition that is life limiting like Dementia or Parkinson’s then this workshop is for you.
Learning and being prepared helps maintain better wellbeing.
