Do you work and care? Do you want something new and exciting to do at the weekend?

St. Margaret’s House in Bethnal Green are inviting members from the Carer’s Centre of Tower Hamlets to co-create an exciting new digital art project around the theme of care and caring for others, inspired by the children’s novel ‘The Borrowers’ by Mary Norton.

In partnership with Arts Council England, the wonderful artists Kazuko Hohki and Milou Stella are undertaking research & development for this project and want CCTH members to join them as care and imagination experts. Using story-telling, craft, improvisation, textiles and more, participants will be taking part in the creation of a care-based art project that will be able to travel to different Tower Hamlets communities in the future.

Workshops will mainly take place online through Zoom every Saturday from June 5th to 17th July, 11am-1pm. However we thought it would be great to start the workshop series off in person at the CCTH centre so artists and participants can get to know each other a little better.

Training & Employment Opportunities

Job opportunities for 16-24-year-olds on Universal Credit

The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion investment by the Government to try and prevent young people in a difficult job market from becoming reliant on Universal Credit over the long term. It provides an exciting opportunity for those aged 16-24 to gain valuable work experience and training and develop new skills to prepare them for employment.

We’re working closely with several employers within a range of sectors including law, construction, creative arts, digital media, hospitality, catering, and fitness to provide the best possible opportunities for applicants.

If you’re 34 and over get your Covid-19 jab

This week it was announced that anyone aged 34 and over can now get their Covid-19 vaccine. If you’re eligible, please get vaccinated to protect yourself and others.

In Tower Hamlets we run vaccine clinics at the Art Pavilion in Mile End Park, Cable Street Surgery and hold pop up clinics at Granby Hall and the East London Mosque. To book appointments at any of these sites, call our vaccine helpline on 020 7364 3030.

Vaccines are also available from pharmacies in the borough. Book online or by calling 119.

There’s still time to have your say on health and wellbeing

The Tower Hamlets Health and Wellbeing Board has developed a draft joint strategy for the next five years that sets out priority areas and initial actions to support the delivery of its five ambitions.

Anyone living or working in Tower Hamlets is being asked to review the draft strategy, shape the final document, and consider how they can be part of its delivery.
