Hello Everyone

So it is not coming home, I am sorry to say.  Congratulations to Italy and commiserations to the England team and game well played.  After all they got further than we have done in many a year.

So carers did you watch the game or if I am being honest were you like me and watch Black Widow, which by the way was marvellous, I did keep checking in and when It went to penalties I could not watch.

I do want you to keep well today as we are expected to have further heavy showers and thunderstorms, so be careful toing and froing…

This sounds like the mantra of a carer.

So how about this then!!

Because we wanted carers to get together this as last year was a wash out, we decided to organise a picnic.  It turns out…

It’s National Picnic month in July 2021. You can just rock up with a picnic blanket, open up your picnic backpack or luxury picnic hamper and have some fun!

So don’t forget it is on Thursday 22nd July and we meet outside the Pavilion Café at 12 noon.

Bring your own food and drink and let’s celebrate being carers.

Subject to a final review of the data next week, all Covid-19 legal restrictions will end on Monday 19th July, this means:

  • Limits on social contact will end, with no restrictions on indoor or outdoor gatherings – weddings, funerals, and other life events able to take place without limits.
  • All venues currently closed will be allowed to reopen, including nightclubs, and there will be no legal requirement for table service in hospitality settings.
  • Face coverings will no longer be legally required in shops, schools, hospitality, or on public transport although guidance will be in place to suggest where people might choose to wear one, such as where you come into contact with people you don’t usually meet in enclosed and crowded places.
  • The 1m plus rule will be lifted – other than in specific places such as at the border to help manage the risks of new variants coming into the country.
  • The guidance to work from home where possible will also end, to allow employers to start planning a safe return to workplaces.
  • The cap on the number of named visitors for care home residents will be removed from the current maximum of five per resident, although infection prevention and control measures will remain in place to protect the most vulnerable.

Booster jabs:

  • The NHS has been told to start planning a Covid vaccine booster programme. All over-50s will be offered booster jabs this autumn after Government scientists recommended that third doses be given to more than 32m adults, starting in September.

Check out our current list of vaccine clinics!

‘Summer Lights’ in Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf has transformed into a prism of light this summer with the dynamic artwork on the estate for Summer Lights – an all outdoor, free to visit, summer exhibition.

Exploding into life from sunrise, the collection of entrancing installations use a combination of the sun and colour spectrums to project and celebrate light in its most natural form. While creating a world of intricate patterns and reflections which are visually dazzling, the installations also shine a light on important messages. From sustainability, plastic pollution, and energy consumption, to LGBTQIA+ and equality; these important themes are all highlighted through the language of light.

Weavers ward by-election to take place on 12 August.

The by-election is being held on Thursday 12 August to fill a vacancy on the council for Weavers ward, following the sad passing of Cllr John Pierce last month.
