1st July 2024(2 events) – Our weekly reading group enables carers to sit round a table, have fun with other carers and have a short story read to them by an experienced Reader; this mindful activity enables you to slow down and look inwardly. – This six-week course kicks off today and will continue until mid-July. It will give the participants an opportunity to boost their self-esteem, look positively at their lives, meditate and just be able to learn ways to enhance wellbeing. Please make sure you sign up to get a place. |
2nd July 2024(5 events) – Carers are offered four, one-hour sessions where they are able to discuss the pressures and issues of the caring role and given coping mechanisms and strategies to effectively manage their caring role. These are provided either face to face, virtually on Zoom, or by telephone. –
Working with our partner, ELATT, this learning group is for carers, to learn English as a second language, participants will have an academic year of learning including how carers can learn English to help with their caring roles through conversation with health providers. – The Tuesday morning Drop-In session at Breathing Space in the London Buddhist Centre is an opportunity to have tea, coffee, and biscuits with other carers in a calm peaceful environment. There is time to connect socially with others as well as engage in a mindful meditation to help relax and restore. This is a non-religious activity and is open to all. You can arrive anytime Fromm 11am, with the meditation starting at 11.45am and ending by 1pm when carers often go for lunch together in a local café.
– Why not come and have a walk in Tower Hamlets with other carers and exercise, lower your blood pressure, connect with people, have fun, and have some mental respite from your caring role. We Meet outside the centre, and we go off in a different direction each session. – This Month's bereavement group is dedicated to our dearly missed Richard Palmer. So if you have been affected by his passing and want to come and chat about our memories and join us for his much loved Tea and Biscuits please come along. |
3rd July 2024(3 events) –
We have a trainee counsellor who will offer six one-hour sessions to carers. The wellbeing team will triage our waiting list and the counsellor will undertake the sessions to enable carers feel better equipped to manage their caring role. These are provided either face to face, virtually on Zoom. – The peer group is monthly and there will conversational topics, sometimes consultation and ideas for caring for someone within the client group. Most importantly other carers will be on hand to swap tips, give advice and welcome you into their caring presence.
Topic: Peer support group for carers of someone with Autism, Learning Disability, Physical Disability and/or behaviours that challenge y Meeting Join Zoom Meeting Meeting ID: 733 941 7664 – This weekly peer support group enables Young Adult Carers to access a range of activities which are co-produced and relevant to them, such as self-care and personal empowerment workshops. They may also choose to use these sessions to discuss their caring role with staff or simply for ‘chill out’ time in order to connect with other Young Adult Carers and get a break from their caring roles. Food and drink are provided. |
4th July 2024(3 events) – This group is for carers to learn a craft, develop a hobby, and enjoy some free time. Carers will get to have fun with other carers. This group is also a peer support group and recognises the mental health needs of carers, carers of people with a mental health issue, you can also bring the person you care for. Materials, refreshments, and fun will be supplied. – This launch kicks off seven weeks of photography, we have 15 places, and we are developing an exhibition for our funders in the City of London. Reed Smith is moving to new offices and the exhibition will take place in their new foyer called BLOSSOM. So, if you want to learn photographic techniques, be part of something new and exciting then sign up and book your place. No Spaces Available – This weekly group enables carers feeling isolated to connect with local residents, carers will have the chance to undertake health and nutrition classes, exercise classes, advice, fun and games. We work in partnership with St Joseph’s Hospice and LBTH. |
5th July 2024(1 event) – Our volunteer reiki healers spend 30 minutes using their skills to make you feel relaxed, centred and feeling like you can undertake your caring role more successfully. You will be able to discuss what conditions you suffer from and seek their advice. |
