Carers Wellbeing Academy
Improving the emotional and physical wellbeing of unpaid carers through Information; Connection; & Support.
Welcome to the Carers Wellbeing Academy – a unique and dynamic service provided by The Carers Centre Tower Hamlets.
We provide a holistic wide range of activities; workshops; and groups that informs, connects, and supports carers with maintaining and improving their wellbeing and helps them to effectively manage their caring role.
We have designed all our services directly with carers to ensure that they are person-centred, relevant, and accessible – we do this by:
Informing
We run educational and learning workshops on condition specific issues related to both the carer and the person they care for, activities to help carers with their mental and physical wellbeing as well as helping carers look for opportunities to have a life beyond their caring role.
Connecting
We develop partnerships with both carers and other organisations to enable carers to feel less isolated, to be heard and valued and to experience the positivity of peer led groups by taking part. We encourage carers to connect creatively through artistic endeavours that provide much needed mindfulness and mental respite.
Supporting
We provide inspiration and support for current and former carers. Our wrap around activities includes, counselling, carer retreats, physical exercise classes as well as signposting to employment & training schemes, online platforms that enhance better emotional wellbeing and experienced providers who deliver face to face activities that positively combat negative wellbeing.
We know from personal experience how difficult it is to take time for ourselves when in the midst of looking after someone else, especially those with complex needs. So please click on our calendar which is updated monthly to check out what activities can suit you around your caring role, obligations or if you are a working carer and come and join in.
Our service is underpinned by the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ – a comprehensive framework that ensures that all aspects of a carer’s needs are met using a dynamic; personable; and an accessible approach.
Please check out our wellbeing pages to understand how you can maintain good physical and emotional wellbeing through participating in our activities and groups; linking in with our community partner initiatives; and connecting with national information and support.
To attend all you need to do is register with us. Make an appointment now
