Carers Week 2025

Join us and help us celebrate 25 years of the Carers Centre!

This year Carers Week will be bigger and better than ever. As well as marking this important annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, we are also celebrating our 25th anniversary at the Carers Centre Tower Hamlets.

Carers Week 2025 runs between 9th – 15th June and this year the theme focuses on “Caring about Equality”. Throughout the week we have an action-packed schedule of events which are free of charge to carers living in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. On Wednesday 11th June we will be hosting a Pamper Day  at the Centre. It will be a day of celebration and we are honoured to be joined by the Mayor of Tower Hamlets on the day. Join us for free health checks, reiki sessions, meditation sessions, strawberries and cream, cake and much more.

Carers Week Schedule of Events

Monday 9th June
Shared Reading at the Carers Centre
Allows carers to connect with each other and haver a short story read to them by an experienced reader, after the story has been read the participants are free to listen or contribute their views, how it relates their lives and this then is how carers develop friendships – one carer said that the group has allowed him to take time out of his recent caring for someone who is end of life.
11.15am to 12.15pm

Walking & Talking at the Carers Centre
This group is facilitated by a carer for carers. The group sets off from the carers centre to walk in a different direction taking in the sights of Tower Hamlets, sometimes you might end up in a neighbouring borough, but it always ends with refreshments. Carers report that the conversation, exercise and fun is an excellent distraction from their caring role.

Carers Drop-in at The London Buddhist Centre
An opportunity to have tea, coffee, and biscuits with other carers in a calm peaceful environment. There is time to connect socially with others as well as engage in a mindful meditation to help relax and restore. This is a non-religious activity and is open to all. You can arrive anytime from 11am, with the meditation starting at 11.45am and ending by 1pm when carers often go for lunch together in a local café.
