LGBT History Month in Tower Hamlets

LGBT+ History Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. It takes plays throughout the month of February.

LGBT History Month 2026 in Tower Hamlets features a diverse, community-led program themed “Science & Innovation,” focusing on East London’s queer history, art, and activism. Key events include the Queer East London Fest with Positive East, elop, and the Tower Hamlets LGBTQ+ Community Forum, plus exhibitions like “Never Going Underground”. 

Key Events and Activities in February 2026:

• Queer East London Fest: Workshop, and community celebration
• Exhibitions: “Never Going Underground: LGBTQ+ History Month Exhibition” featuring queer memorial art.
• Heritage & Art: “Radiant Affinities” at local Idea Stores, featuring Cornelius McCarthy’s work and a curator talk.
• Workshops: The Queer Arts & Social Club hosting a creative drawing and inks session.
• Special Projects: “Molly’s Masquerade” research and creative workshops exploring historic queer spaces.

The Tower Hamlets LGBT Forum is actively involved in organizing and highlighting these events, focusing on local, inclusive history.
