Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026
April 30th, 2026
Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026 will take place from the 4 – 10 May. This year’s theme is ‘Let’s talk about Death and Dying’. It is a chance for carers to be open up honest, compassionate conversations about dying, death and grief.
Although these topics can feel difficult, talking about them helps us better support one another, make informed choices, and ensure our wishes are understood. This week invites everyone, including carers, to reflect, listen and learn, and to break down the taboos that too often surround the end of life.
To mark this week in May, there are a number of events taking place in Tower Hamlets which may be of interest to local carers.
Let’s Discuss Death in Tower Hamlets

Lasting Power of Attorney Toolkit for Carers
Marking Dying Matters Awareness Week, this May the Carers Centre has launched a Lasting Power of Attorney Toolkit designed for Carers. We have developed this guide after hearing again and again how many carers feel unsupported, unheard, or powerless at critical moments.
