Managing Caring Alongside School Summer Holidays
July 16th, 2025
The summer holidays are nearly here, and for some carers this can mean even more on your plate, balancing caring for your loved ones, looking after the children, and somehow finding time for yourself.
Top Tip
If you can, try to have an open, honest chat with other family members – siblings or close friends – about sharing some of the caring responsibilities over the summer. Even small amounts of help can free up time for you to focus on the kids, or just to take a breather yourself. Remember, you don’t have to do it all alone.
Keep the Kids Busy
Here’s a list of local summer activities to help keep children entertained:
- The Holiday Activities and Food Programme is for children, aged 4 to 16 years, who are eligible for and claiming benefits-related free school meals. They will be able to access a free place at a holiday activity club over the school holiday.
- The Tower Hamlets Kids Summer of Fun calendar will keep your children busy almost every day!
- Interested in the Tower Hamlets arts scene? They’ve got a whole website for that. Take a look here.
- There are events for all ages in Victoria Park.
