Between 9 and 15 June 2025, Carers Centre Tower Hamlets joined the rest of the UK to mark Carers Week, the theme being ‘Caring About Equality”’. This week was extra meaningful because we also celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Carers Centre Tower Hamlets.

We wanted to make this Carers Week extra special, so we packed out our schedule with treats for unpaid carers in Tower Hamlets. Read on to find out what happened and how you can benefit from the Carer’s Centres activities all year round.

A Week of Celebration & Pampering

We all know caring can be hard on your mind, body, and financial circumstances. That is why Carers Week shines a light on carers and reminds everyone they deserve support, rest and time to themselves.

We started the week with our Shared Reading and Walk & Talk Groups – both firm fixtures on our calendar of events designed to support carers’ wellbeing and give them time to connect.

You’re welcome to join both these groups any time. To join simply email wellbeing@ccth.org.uk

On Tuesday we took a trip to Bethnal Green’s London Buddhist Centre for tea, biscuits, and mindful meditation. We’ve partnered with the Buddhist Centre for years so it felt only right to include them in our celebrations. Visiting gives carers time to connect as well as engage in a mindful meditation to help relax and restore. It’s is a non-religious activity and is open to all so look out for more opportunities to attend with us on our calendar of events.

Wednesday was the highlight of the week! We held a Pamper Day and our 25th Anniversary Celebration – attended by the Mayor of Tower Hamlets. We offered carers free health checks, massages, henna, meditation, plus strawberries and cream! We also held our usual Young Adult Carers meet up that evening.

We’ll share more about that event soon.

On Thursday we went to the Wallace Collection for a guided visit – and more tea and biscuits!

Then on Friday we had a day out at Kew Gardens where we took a walkthrough peaceful gardens and glasshouses.

These day trips are free for unpaid carers and help carers who might be feeling lonely or struggling financially.

The best way to find out about the activities, learning opportunities and trips we offer to unpaid carers in Tower Hamlets is to sign up to our monthly newsletter or follow us on Facebook or Instagram.

Graham Collins, CEO of the Carers Centre said:

“Carers Week sends out a strong message: You deserve rest and time for yourself. You deserve support, advice, company, and a break. So, if you’re an unpaid carer – remember you’re not alone. We’re here all year round, not just Carers Week.”
