Carers Garden Club
March 27th, 2026
Have you heard about our Carers Garden Club in Tower Hamlets?
This April marks Stress Awareness Month. It is a reminder that caring for others can place long‑term pressure on both body and mind and that carers deserve time and space to look after their own wellbeing too.
The Carers Garden Club based at Canary Wharf and the group also outings for carers throughout the year to inspiring places such as Kew Gardens and other beautiful gardens.
An opportunity to reduce stress
The club offers carers a gentle and effective way to reduce stress and reconnect with themselves. Gardening is a calming, hands‑on activity that encourages people to slow down and focus on the present moment. Simple actions like planting, watering, or being surrounded by greenery can help lower stress levels, improve mood, and create a sense of calm. For carers, this time away from daily responsibilities can be deeply restorative.
Learn new skills
The Garden Club also provides opportunities to learn new skills and build confidence, regardless of prior experience. Watching plants grow can be rewarding and can restore a sense of achievement that caring roles sometimes overshadow.
Get out and visit beautiful gardens locally
Trips to gardens such as Kew Gardens offer fresh air, gentle movement, and beautiful surroundings, alongside the chance to connect with other carers. Sharing these experiences helps reduce isolation and builds supportive relationships.
During Stress Awareness Month, the Garden Club highlights an important message: caring for yourself is not a luxury — it’s essential. Spending time in green spaces can nurture wellbeing, reduce stress, and help carers feel supported, grounded, and valued.
When is Carers Garden Club?
The Carers Garden Club meets every fortnight on a Friday at 11.00am at the Crossrail Canary Wharf Roof Garden.
April dates are:
Friday 10th April and Friday 24th April
Each month our group tends to the plot and grows herbs for wellbeing.
Carers will have to add their names to the list and each session up to 10 carers can attend so, it will be first come first served.
