Hello Everyone – Why Your Voice Matters

Why Your Voice Matters

Two week’s ago the Carers Forum was a fantastic opportunity to come together, share ideas, and have some honest conversations about what matters most to unpaid carers in Tower Hamlets. Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped make it such a positive and lively discussion.

Now, I’m asking for one more favour.

If you’ve received our carers survey, please take a few minutes to complete it. And if you haven’t seen it, or it’s somehow disappeared into the mysterious black hole of emails, here’s the link:

As carers, we know what it’s like to feel overlooked. Too often, decisions are made about carers or the people we care for without carers being part of the conversation. Nationally, carers frequently tell us they don’t feel listened to, consulted, or recognised for the vital role they play every day.

At Carers Centre Tower Hamlets, we want to do things differently.

Your voice is at the heart of everything we do.

We don’t want to guess what carers need. We want you to tell us.

Do our wellbeing activities support your physical and mental health? What helps you take a break from caring? Would you like more opportunities to meet other carers and build peer support networks? Are there particular health conditions, disabilities, or caring challenges that you’d like to learn more about so you feel better equipped to support your loved one?

We also want to know whether we’re getting the timing right.

Many carers juggle work alongside their caring responsibilities. Are daytime activities working for you, or would evening sessions be more helpful? Are there activities you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t seen on our programme?

This is your opportunity to help shape what’s next.

Think of it as less of a survey and more of a shopping list for the future of our services. (Although sadly we can’t promise a chocolate fountain, a pet alpaca, or a holiday in the Caribbean… yet!)

The more carers who tell us what they want, the better we can ensure our activities, workshops, support groups and services reflect the real needs of the people who use them.

So please take a few minutes to share your views. Whether you’ve attended one activity or one hundred, whether you’re new to us or have been involved for years, your opinion matters.

Because services designed with carers work better for carers.

And because your voice deserves to be heard.

Complete the survey today and help shape the future of support for unpaid carers in Tower Hamlets.

As always, thank you for everything you do.

Have Your Say on Carer’s Allowance

Carers Centre Tower Hamlets is encouraging unpaid carers to take part in the Government’s Call for Evidence on Carer’s Allowance.

This is an important opportunity to tell decision-makers about the reality of caring and how the current Carer’s Allowance rules affect your life. Whether you have experienced difficulties with the earnings limit, balancing caring with work or study, dealing with fluctuating income, or navigating Universal Credit alongside Carer’s Allowance, your experiences matter.

Too often carers face financial hardship while providing vital support to family members and loved ones. By sharing your views, you can help influence future changes and ensure that the voices of carers are heard at the highest level.

The consultation is open until 18 August 2026, and we strongly encourage carers to take part. Every response helps build a clearer picture of the challenges carers face and the changes that are needed.

To find out more and submit your response, visit: Carer’s Allowance Call for Evidence

Together, we can help create a system that better recognises and supports the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers.

This project aims to break down the barriers to exercising outside of our own space, helping people to access and enjoy larger, mainstream facilities with confidence. It also eases pressure on our gym and allows us to support more people currently on the waiting list.
